Aberdeenshire Council Wi-Fi Refresh

The project was to install a new Wi-Fi system in the majority of Aberdeenshire Council’s buildings. This project was flawlessly finished and created the biggest Aerohive Wi-Fi network in the UK and one of the largest in the world with over 4000 access points.

This project was to provide wireless access points (WAP) where required according to an Ekahau survey and to install data points for each. The use of the Ekahau survey was to ensure complete coverage of the building and to allow the capacity needed for trouble-free working, for all users. This required several long days and lots of out of hours working to ensure a seamless roll out.

Throughout the project our team was required to upgrade different parts of the network depending on what was needed on each site. This included providing new cabinets and new cabinet links with OM3 Fiber. Other sites required cabinets to be upgraded due to the increased number of cables and/or switches.

The fully tested cabling provided by I B Services allows the system to work flawlessly while allowing Aberdeenshire Council to remotely monitor over 4,000 wireless access points.
