Media Plaza - Peterhead Academy

The Media Plaza planned by Aberdeenshire Council’s Technology Development team presented a different challenge for I B Services.

The Media Plaza has been designed to be easy to use for any teacher who walks into the teaching area and has to be as accessible for all students wishing to display their work on any of the three screens.

The teaching area’s main focal point is the 86inch Clevertouch Plus Panel. This screen is fully interactive allowing multiple users to draw or write on it at a time. It has the added benefit of having an Android Module fitted to allow many usable teaching apps and built in airplay. This display weighed in at over 90kg meaning we had to ensure secure fixings and rock solid mounting!

The two secondary screens on the gable walls are 65inch LG screens each with the ability to act either as an independent display through an HDMI outlet or using their own Apple TV3. These secondary 65 inch displays can also act as a duplicate of the main Clevertouch Display.

The sound system used was a very easy to use Vision set up. Two loudspeakers controlled by a 50w wall mounted volume control. The wireless microphone included in the set up also uses this sound system.

All of these components are controlled through a small AV Rack using Kramer HDBaseT equipment. This top end equipment makes this a very user friendly and accessible set up with either wireless connectivity or by using the simple HDMI/ SVGA faceplate.

This project ran along side our Wireless Refresh project allowing full wifi coverage, using Aerohive AP130 Access Points, throughout the area.
